Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Vaccination is the process of passing the sperm sample taken from the male through special procedures and separating the fastest/quality ones and giving this sample to the uterus. It is a painless procedure and a special thin catheter is used to give the sperm sample into the uterus. A rest period of approximately 30-45 minutes is sufficient after the vaccination process. Then you can return to your normal daily life.

The vaccination process is preferred in patients who cannot get pregnant despite regular sexual intercourse. The process coincides with the ovulation period, allowing the sperm released into the uterus to meet with the egg.

For egg development, especially in patients with regular menstrual periods, the body itself can be followed by the production of eggs, as well as oral pills that will be started in your menstrual period, or oral pills or needles to be made around the navel can be used. Sequential ultrasound and blood test follow-up may be preferred to ensure that ovulation occurs. However, in daily practice, Rec-HCG hormone, which is usually called a cracking needle, is applied to ensure ovulation. Vaccination is planned for approximately 36 hours after the REC-HCG hormone is applied.

Before the procedure, your spouse is asked to perform sexual abstinence for about 3 days (ie there is no intercourse and ejaculation). Since some procedures should be done in the laboratory for the preparation of the sperm before the procedure, it will also be specified how long before the procedure you will be present at the clinic.

In the vaccination process, the sperm and the egg come together in the tubes of the woman and fertilization occurs here. Therefore, in order for pregnancy to occur, a healthy egg-healthy sperm, a healthy tube and a healthy uterine lining are needed to hold the embryo to the uterus. In other words, sperm values are normal or close to normal; Couples whose ovaries produce eggs and do not have a significant problem with the uterus-tubes can be vaccinated.

Vaccination is possible in any of the following situations.

* In the case of unexplained infertility (ie, in the tests performed, there is no problem that prevents conception)

* In the presence of problems such as vaginismus that prevent sexual intercourse (the vaginismus problem could not be solved despite the treatment received in these patients, and if the couple has a pregnancy request, the procedure can be performed under anesthesia.)

* In patients who have had an operation related to the cervix that may prevent the sperm from reaching the uterus in a healthy way (for example, in cases that can disrupt the structure of the cervix etc.)

* Cervical (cervical) mucus disorders

In cases of erectile dysfunction (Erectal dysfunction)

* Patients with mild low (number-speed and structural features) in sperm values

* In cases where donor sperm will be used in the presence of azoospermia (no sperm at all)

* The vaccination process is not preferred in women with poor age (> 35 years old) and whose ovaries are weak. It is more appropriate for these patient groups to resort to IVF treatments without wasting much time.

* The pregnancy success of the vaccination process is not very high and is around 10-17% (average 15%). However, it can be preferred in couples with young age, short infertility period, normal egg reserves and sufficient sperm values.
