Donor matching is made by matching your main characteristics and also blood group, we also ask for a photograph of yourself to help with the donor match and our donor Co ordinator will be able to match a donor as best as possible for you.
We make sure that egg donors share as many similar physical characteristics with you as possible, so that the child will have the chance to resemble you in spite of not sharing your DNA with him or her, and the same applies in cases where donor sperm is used. If the baby is conceived using your partner’s or husband’s sperm, then he or she will resemble him also.
There may be more than one patient on the same day in the IVF laboratory. In order to avoid any confusion, two different patients’ operations are not performed in the same environment. A barcoding system is in place and each sample, embryo etc. is labelled accordingly. We are regularly audited by the Ministry of Health.
We are regulated firstly by the Ministry of Health in Northern Cyprus and we also have ISO certification.
ISO 9001 Certified for us means that met the requirements in ISO9001. It defines an ISO 9000 Quality Management System (QMS). ISO 9001:2008 and we are audited on a yearly basis to make sure we meet the ISO requirements.
We also follow the HFEA guidelines and monitor the changes and most importantly apply them to our structure.
The ESHRE conferences are also attended on a yearly basis and our Senior embryologist is also certified by ESHRE.
You have an option of two airports, Ercan in North Cyprus or Larnaca in South Cyprus. Ercan is a 20 minute drive from Nicosia and Larnaca is an hour drive.
For couples wishing to travel via Larnaca, please be aware that you will both need a valid European passport or a passport which allows you to travel to South Cyprus and then you will be able to show your passports at the border crossing into North Cyprus, it is very straight forward.
When travelling to Ercan you again will need a valid European passport or a passport that allows you to travel to Cyprus, if you hold a Nigerian or Armenian passport then you will have to apply for a visa to travel to North Cyprus 2 weeks prior to flying.
Cyprus is a beautiful holiday Island and although there has been a division which resulted in the North and South to be divided, there is no unrest and very safe. Both sides of the Island have beautiful beaches and a lot of historical sites to take in when here.
The Hospital is located in Lefkoşa/ Nicosia North Cyprus and is off the Gönyeli roundabout when driving from Girne/ Kyrenia. Directions or a Whatsapp pinpoint will be sent to avoid confusion or you can visit the website for the location
You can stay in Lefkoşa/Nicosia as the hotels are anywhere form a 5-15 minute drive from the Hospital. However if you are looking to use your time more as a holiday in line with your treatment then we would recommend for you to stay in Girne/Kyrenia as this is a 20 minute drive from Lefkoşa/Nicosia. Girne/Kyrenia is a city located by the sea and lovely holiday destination. Of course if there is a different area of the Island you wish to stay in then this is possible, please be aware that driving to the Hospital may take a minimum of 45 minutes.
Hiring a car is very straight forward and all you need is a valid European driver’s licence. However when hiring a car from South Cyprus, please check with the hire company if they allow the car to cross the border, you will also need to purchase extra insurance at any border to make sure you are insured in North Cyprus also.
When hiring a car in North Cyprus again you will need a valid European passport but please be aware that hire cars from the North are not allowed to cross over the border to the South.
The roads here in Cyprus (North and South) are the same as in the UK and follow the same driving rules, so the cars are mainly right hand drive and like in the UK we drive on the left hand side of the road.
