IVF treatment is a hopeful process for couples who wish to turn their dream of having a child into reality. However, the duration of this journey is one of the most frequently asked questions. Although the total duration of treatment varies from person to person, it generally ranges from 4 to 6 weeks. Here are the stages and duration of IVF treatment:
1. Preparation and Planning (1-2 Weeks)
Before starting treatment, couples undergo a detailed health assessment. Your doctor will review your medical history, perform the necessary tests, and plan your treatment process. This stage forms the basis of the treatment and usually takes 1 to 2 weeks.
2. Stimulation of the Ovaries (10-14 Days)
This process, in which the woman’s ovaries are stimulated with medication, is one of the most important stages of IVF treatment. The aim is to ensure the production of high-quality eggs. During this process, your doctor will monitor the development of the ovaries with regular ultrasound and blood tests. This stage lasts approximately 10-14 days, during which patients must visit our clinic several times.
3. Egg Retrieval and Fertilisation (1 day)
Once the eggs have reached the desired maturity, the egg retrieval procedure is performed. This procedure, carried out under light sedation, usually takes 15-20 minutes. Fertilisation is performed in the laboratory using a sperm sample collected on the same day.

4. Embryo Development and Transfer (3-5 Days)
Fertilised eggs develop in a laboratory environment for 3 to 5 days. The highest quality embryos are selected and transferred to the uterus. Embryo transfer is a painless and short procedure. It usually takes 10-15 minutes, and the patient can return home the same day.
5. Waiting Period and Pregnancy Test (10-14 Days)
After embryo transfer, approximately 10-14 days are waited to determine the pregnancy outcome. During this period, it is important to follow your doctor’s advice and avoid stress. This period is an exciting wait for our patients.
Factors Affecting Success
The duration and success of treatment depend on factors such as the couple’s age, general health, and response to treatment.
